It's worth recalling that Helldivers 2 holds the title of the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game ever, with a staggering 12 million copies sold in just 12 weeks. This record-setting achievement is unlikely to be surpassed by any other first-party Sony-developed game. Since its explosive launch, the game has navigated through significant events such as the reversal of PSN account requirements on Steam, review-bomb campaigns, and a community often in contention over the game's balance changes.
Throughout these challenges, Arrowhead has been adapting to manage a much larger and more diverse player base than ever before. Now, 14 months after Helldivers 2 launched on PC and PlayStation 5, Arrowhead reflects on its journey. Has the studio begun to master the demanding dynamics of live-service gaming? Following their collaboration with Killzone, could a partnership with Warhammer 40,000 be on the horizon?
To delve deeper into these questions, IGN had the opportunity to speak with Alex Bolle, the production director of Helldivers 2.
