DICE Reveals Overhauled Player Movement in Battlefield 6

Author : Grace Nov 01,2025

DICE has shared key insights and planned improvements based on player feedback from the Battlefield 6 open beta test.

The development team reported impressive engagement metrics, with tens of thousands forming squads on Discord, over 600,000 hours of gameplay streamed, and more than 30 million hours watched. These statistics informed several planned adjustments to weapons, movement systems, maps, game modes, player counts, and playlist options.

Refining Core Movement Mechanics

Player concerns about movement mechanics—particularly movement speed and the fluidity between sliding and jumping—topped the feedback list. DICE addressed these issues, stating: "We're refining these elements to maintain Battlefield's signature combat feel while improving balance."

Key movement changes include:

The team also adjusted parachute physics for more controlled aerial maneuvers, reducing initial acceleration when deploying.

Expanding Battlefield Options

DICE acknowledged player requests for larger-scale maps, confirming that while the beta featured compact, action-packed environments, full-scale battlefields remain central to the experience. The ongoing Battlefield Labs program will introduce two new multiplayer locations:

Both locations will feature the complete vehicle roster and expanded combat spaces, with details about Mirak Valley having surfaced in recent leaks.

Mode-Specific Adjustments

The studio also addressed concerns about Rush mode after significant player feedback regarding its implementation:

DICE explained the evolution of Rush since its debut as Gold Rush in Battlefield: Bad Company, noting the challenges of scaling the mode:

However, players craving larger Rush matches can still experiment through Portal at launch. The team noted 8v8 works particularly well for intimate modes like Team Deathmatch and Domination.

Future Testing Opportunities

The development team will continue implementing adjustments through Battlefield Labs sessions, inviting players to monitor progress updates and future participation opportunities.

Early impressions remain positive, with our Battlefield 6 review-in-progress noting: "Even in beta form, the multiplayer delivers stunning cinematic destruction with genuinely strategic gameplay elements—potentially the most enjoyable shooter experience this year."

Players can look forward to additional content in Battlefield 2042 leading to Battlefield 6's October 7 launch, including legacy celebrations, new hardware, and 50 cross-game rewards—20 of which will be immediately available in Battlefield 6.
