Concord: Post-Launch Roadmap and Gameplay Tips Unveiled
With Concord's August 23rd launch fast approaching, Sony and Firewalk Studios have detailed the game's post-launch content and gameplay strategies. This article summarizes the key updates and tips for mastering Concord.
No Battle Pass, Continuous Updates
Launching on August 23rd for PS5 and PC, Concord will forgo the traditional Battle Pass model. Firewalk Studios prioritizes a rewarding base experience, focusing on meaningful rewards through gameplay, character progression, and objective completion. Instead of a Battle Pass, the developers will focus on delivering regular content updates. Game director Ryan Ellis emphasizes that launch is merely the beginning of Concord's journey, promising continuous support and growth alongside the player community.
Season 1: The Tempest – Arriving in October
Concord's first major update, Season 1: The Tempest, launches in October, bringing a new playable Freegunner, a fresh map, additional Freegunner Variants, and new cosmetic items. Weekly Cinematic Vignettes will enrich the lore surrounding the Northstar crew.
In-Game Store Debuts in Season 1
An in-game store will also launch with Season 1, offering purely cosmetic items that won't affect gameplay balance. These will complement the rewards earned through regular progression.
Season 2 and Beyond
Season 2 is scheduled for January 2025, showcasing Firewalk Studios' commitment to regular seasonal content drops throughout Concord's first year.
Mastering Concord: Crew Builder and Gameplay Strategies
Ellis also shared insights into optimal gameplay strategies. Concord's unique "Crew Builder" system lets players customize their five-Freegunner teams, allowing up to three copies of a Freegunner's Variants. This encourages diverse team compositions tailored to playstyles and match challenges. Building a balanced team with Freegunners from different roles unlocks Crew Bonuses, enhancing mobility, weapon handling, and more.
Unlike traditional shooter roles, Concord's Freegunners are designed for high DPS and effective gunfights. The six roles—Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden—are defined by their strategic impact, such as area control, long-range advantage, and flanking maneuvers.
