LEGO Ventures into Gaming with New In-House Developments

Author : Michael Mar 25,2025

LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has shared exciting insights into the company's future, emphasizing a significant push into the digital realm through the development of video games. The iconic toy maker plans to create titles both independently and in collaboration with other developers, enhancing its digital footprint while staying true to its brand values.

“We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing.” Niels Christiansen

This strategic shift towards in-house game development does not mean LEGO will abandon its successful partnerships with third-party developers. For example, journalist Jason Schreier recently reported that TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed titles, is currently developing a new LEGO game, possibly connected to a Warner Bros. franchise.

LEGO's most notable gaming endeavor to date is its collaboration with Epic Games. The introduction of a LEGO-themed mode in Fortnite last year proved immensely popular, highlighting the potential for LEGO's digital expansion. Furthermore, LEGO has a long-standing relationship with TT Games, which has produced the beloved adventure game series over the last two decades. Although new projects from TT Games have been relatively quiet, there are whispers of a LEGO Harry Potter game on the horizon, inspired by the commercial success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Adding to its diverse gaming portfolio, LEGO teamed up with 2K Games to launch LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game that debuted last year. This venture further demonstrates LEGO's adaptability and commitment to exploring various genres within the gaming industry.
