Fans of tactical RPGs, get ready! The composer behind the iconic Persona series and Metaphor: ReFantazio, Shoji Meguro, is steering the helm of an exciting new project called Guns Undarkness. This upcoming game promises to blend the thrill of stealth mechanics with the strategic depth of turn-based combat, and you can get a taste of it soon. A free demo of Guns Undarkness will be available at the upcoming Steam Next Fest, set to kick off on February 24, 2025. This isn't just any game; it's a collaboration that includes the talents of Ghost in the Shell character artist Ilya Kuvshino and rapper Lotus Juice, known for his contributions to Persona 3.
Shoji Meguro, a veteran in the gaming industry since joining Atlus in 1995, has been the musical force behind hits like the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series. In 2021, he ventured into indie game development while still contributing to Atlus's soundtracks. His latest endeavor, Guns Undarkness, was first unveiled at the Indie Live Expo Winter 2021 and successfully met its Kickstarter goals in 2022. Following the demo release, the game will be available for Early Access later this year.

Inspired by Metal Gear Solid and Persona
Drawing inspiration from classics like Metal Gear Solid and the Persona series, Guns Undarkness sets players in the year 2045, a world teetering on the edge of collapse. As a member of a private military company, your mission is to undertake challenging tasks with your allies, uncovering the world's hidden truths to save humanity.
The gameplay in Guns Undarkness splits into two distinct modes: stealth and battle. During stealth sections, players can navigate the environment undetected, gaining a strategic advantage in combat if they choose to engage enemies silently. The battles are turn-based, requiring players to issue commands and utilize various firearms to overcome foes.
The demo for Guns Undarkness will offer around 20 minutes of gameplay, including a tutorial covering basic controls, the battle system, weapons, and strategies for the game's early stages. While the game is slated for an Early Access release in Spring 2025 on PC, with approximately 10 hours of playtime, a specific release date has yet to be announced.
