Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Hotfix 4.1 Addresses Player Concerns Following Patch 4.0 Backlash
Following significant player backlash over last week's Patch 4.0, Saber Interactive is releasing hotfix 4.1 on October 24th. This update directly addresses the controversial nerfs introduced in Patch 4.0, primarily reverting the "most pressing" balance changes.
The decision to revert these changes follows negative player feedback and review bombing on Steam. The developers acknowledged that Patch 4.0, intended to increase enemy spawns and challenge, inadvertently made lower difficulty levels too difficult.
Key Changes in Hotfix 4.1:
- Enemy Spawn Rates: Significantly reduced Extremis enemy spawns on Ruthless difficulty, reverting spawn rates to pre-Patch 4.0 levels for Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties.
- Player Armor: A 10% armor increase for players on Ruthless difficulty.
- Bot Buffs: Bots will now deal 30% more damage to bosses.
- Bolt Weapon Buffs: Substantial damage increases across the Bolt weapon family to address previous underperformance. Specific increases include:
- Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
- Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
- Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
- Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Heavy Bolter: +5% (x2)
Furthermore, Saber Interactive announced plans to implement Public Test Servers around early 2025 to gather player feedback before major updates. The team will continue monitoring player feedback after the release of hotfix 4.1 to ensure the "Lethal" difficulty remains appropriately challenging and rewarding.
