Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Receives Classic Modes and Map, Addresses Post-Launch Issues
Following its recent release, Black Ops 6 is adding two highly-anticipated game modes and a beloved map. The developer, Treyarch, announced via Twitter (X) that the popular "Infected" mode will launch tomorrow, followed by the iconic Nuketown map on November 1st.
Infected, a staple in the Call of Duty franchise, pits players against AI-controlled zombies. Nuketown, first introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010), is a multiplayer map set in a 1950s-era nuclear test site. Activision previously confirmed plans for regular post-launch content updates, ensuring continued engagement with the player base. Black Ops 6 launched with 11 standard multiplayer modes, including variations with disabled Scorestreaks and a Hardcore mode.
A recent update addressed several post-launch issues across multiplayer and Zombies modes. This included boosting XP and weapon XP rates in various game modes like Team Deathmatch and Search & Destroy. Activision stated they are actively monitoring XP rates to ensure fair progression. Specific fixes included:
- Global: Resolved loadout highlighting, Bailey's operator animation, and the "Mute Licensed Music" setting functionality.
- Maps: Addressed exploits allowing players to leave designated play areas in Babylon, Lowtown, and Red Card. Red Card also received stability improvements. General in-game interaction stability was also enhanced.
- Multiplayer: Fixed matchmaking issues that prevented quick player replacements, prevented private matches from forfeiting with zero players on a team, and addressed a continuous missile sound effect in Scorestreaks.
While some issues, such as death upon loadout selection in Search & Destroy, remain to be addressed, developers Treyarch and Raven Software are actively working on further patches. Despite these minor setbacks, Black Ops 6 has been widely praised, particularly its enjoyable campaign. For a comprehensive review, see Game8's full analysis (link omitted).
