Maximize your word count to achieve victory! Squares is a daily word puzzle game demanding both strategy and skill. Players aim to complete squares on a grid to create words.
Gameplay: Connect letters in any direction—up, down, left, right, or diagonally—to form words. The objective is to discover all words on the grid and accumulate the highest possible score.
Game Rules:
- Each letter in a word earns one point (a five-letter word scores five points).
- Words must contain at least four letters.
- Each tile can only be used once per word.
- Hyphenated words, proper nouns, offensive language, and uncommon terms are excluded.
Bonus Words: Bonus words are less common, antiquated, or slang terms. These words don't add to your score but appear in a separate bonus word list. You can continue searching for them even after finding all main words (post-game). Each puzzle also features a "Word of the Day," a special, often longer bonus word. Finding it rewards you with two extra hints!
Daily Challenge: A new Squares puzzle is released daily at midnight.
Grid Rotation: Need a fresh perspective? Rotate the grid left or right using the buttons in the bottom-right corner. A different viewpoint might help you uncover more words.
Letter Usage Hints: After discovering 40% of the words, a hint is provided: a number on each letter indicates how many words begin with that letter. The absence of a number means no words start with that letter. An orange letter signifies it's no longer used in the main words but might still be in bonus words.
Hints System: Each puzzle offers 3 to 5 hints (lightbulb icons). Using a hint reveals the first letter of a random word and its search direction. The number of hints depends on the puzzle's difficulty. Sharing the game link with friends grants one additional hint! Good luck and happy word hunting!
