Cyberpunk Sequel and Switch 2 Port Developments
Expanding to Multiple Cities

Codenamed Project Orion, Cyberpunk 2077's sequel plans to broaden its scope by including Chicago alongside the original Night City setting. Mike Pondsmith, founder of R. Talsorian Games and designer consulted on the project, shared insights during Digital Dragons 2025.
While less involved than with Cyberpunk 2077, Pondsmith remains engaged with development: "I review scripts and consult on elements like cyberware design." Regarding Chicago's depiction, he noted: "They've captured a distinct Midwestern cyberpunk aesthetic - it evokes a corrupted Chicago rather than repeating Blade Runner's style."

CD Projekt Red bolstered development earlier this year through strategic hires including a Lead Encounter Designer. The role focuses on crafting innovative gameplay systems, notably aiming to create "the most realistic and reactive crowd system" in gaming history.
Though details remain scarce, these developments suggest Cyberpunk 2 will expand significantly upon its predecessor's worldbuilding and narrative depth.
Switch 2 Port Showcase

CD Projekt released extensive footage demonstrating Cyberpunk 2077's optimization for Nintendo's upcoming console. The 37-minute presentation highlights the technical challenges of adapting the demanding title to portable hardware.
Early reports noted performance limitations during Switch 2 preview events. CDPR engineer Tim Green addressed concerns: "While we've overcome memory constraints thanks to faster storage, achieving consistent performance remains an ongoing priority."

The Ultimate Edition, launching June 5, 2025, bundles the complete experience including the Phantom Liberty expansion alongside all post-launch content updates.
