'So I'm Not Crazy?' — Battlefield 6 Players Struggle as Bullets Seem to Fly Right Through Enemies

Battlefield 6 launched with strong player numbers just last week, but EA’s newest entry in the long-running FPS series is grappling with a frustrating issue that’s causing players to miss shots they clearly land.

As players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S flooded into Battlefield 6 in the days after its October 10 release, they encountered a launch build that performs far better than some of the franchise’s most notorious early releases. Still, it hasn’t been flawless—particularly when it comes to hit registration for certain weapons.

Alright, which one of you loaded up my rifle with blanks?

Reddit user KaiKamakasi was among the first to highlight the issue, sharing a clip from Battlefield 6’s New Sobek City map where they fired over 20 rounds directly at an enemy—only to see no damage registered.

They joked that someone must’ve loaded their rifle with blanks, but the footage strongly suggests something deeper is wrong in Battlefield 6. Every shot appears perfectly aligned with the target, even showing blood spraying with each impact—yet the enemy remains unharmed. Moments later, that same player kills KaiKamakasi without taking a single hit.

“I had this today as well,” one comment added. “You can literally hear the bullets hitting the body, so you know you’re landing shots. I was playing with a friend and asked if certain classes have hidden armor I’d never noticed, because some players just acted like bullet sponges.

“I knew I was hitting them, but they just wouldn’t go down.”

Often it feels like hit registration just doesn’t exist...

Hit markers clearly registered impacts, yet only a fraction of the nine shots actually registered damage. Other Battlefield 6 players soon shared similar experiences, and IGN’s own tests confirmed phantom bullets that seem to pass clean through enemies.

“So I’m not crazy?” one reply added. “I’ve BEAMED people with a controller. I could see my reticle was dead on, yet still lost the fight. Always one or two bullets just MISS, even when my gun felt like it fired enough to drop them.

“It’s either hit registration or I just haven’t adjusted to the spread and weapon balance in this game.”

Thankfully, EA is aware. Florian Le Bihan, Principal Game Designer on Battlefield 6, tweeted that BF Studios is actively investigating the issue. "It is commonly observed with the target being visibly hit (blood splatters) but no damage is confirmed in the HUD (no hit indicator etc...)," he explained.
