WHAT IS STENCILETTO?
Stenciletto is an engaging series of progressive cognitive exercises that utilize simple geometric shapes to enhance visual and spatial perception skills. This game is accessible to everyone who can recognize basic geometric figures and understand the concept of a stencil.
Solving Stenciletto puzzles demands a variety of critical thinking skills, including visual and spatial perception, logical reasoning, planning, and problem solving. Although the task—tapping geometric stencils in the correct order to replicate the given pattern—appears straightforward, it is a challenging mental workout that stimulates thought and concentration.
Developed over a decade by an experienced teacher with input from children, teenagers, adults, and individuals with learning disabilities and brain injuries, Stenciletto has proven to be both rewarding and motivating across all age groups and abilities.
In our latest update, we've introduced Education Mode, making Stenciletto suitable for classroom use. A single purchase unlocks all relevant content, with controls for accessing content, the internet, Game Center, and sharing options. Education Mode is compatible with Family Sharing, making it perfect for home educators as well.
HISTORY OF THE GAME
Originally known as the Stencil Design IQ Test, Stenciletto was created by Grace Arthur, Ph.D., an early 20th-century psychologist who recognized the importance of non-verbal skills in intelligence assessment. She found the game suitable for children as young as seven, as well as her academic peers. Dr. Arthur used this tool to measure the IQ of Native American and deaf children who had limited access to formal education and thus performed poorly on verbal IQ tests. Through Stenciletto, she demonstrated that these children possessed IQ levels comparable to those of educated Americans.
WHAT'S IN THE GAME?
Stenciletto offers two types of games. The Classic Games are inspired by Grace Arthur’s original geometric stencils, including squares, circles, triangles, and crosses, which are recognizable to most players. The World Games provide advanced challenges for those with strong perceptual and logical skills.
The game contains over 600 puzzles, organized into levels, with a free set of 60 puzzles available for trial. Each paid game includes 15 puzzles, and upon completing a Classic Game, players earn an animated Smiley, representing well-known historical and mythological characters from diverse cultures. These Smileys serve as a fun and culturally rich way to track progress and achievements.
Stenciletto offers various modes of play:
- Mortal Mode: The default mode where players can either purchase lives or wait for new lives to regenerate. It is timed and scored, with leaderboards available.
- Immortal Mode: Players receive free lives indefinitely, with the option to top up their life bank as needed. This mode is also timed and scored, with separate leaderboards.
- Mindful Mode: Untimed and unscored, allowing players to take as much time as they need to solve puzzles in a relaxed environment.
- Education Mode: Unlocks both Immortal and Mindful Modes, with the option to disable Mortal Mode, making it ideal for educational settings.
