The Office Spinoff The Paper Renewed for Season 2 Before Debut

Author : Samuel Feb 10,2026

You don't need to wait for the headlines — the new spinoff series "The Paper," based on "The Office," is already a TV sensation. In fact, the show has officially been renewed for a second season.

The renewal came just one day before the series’ premiere on Peacock on September 4. This early vote of confidence is due to the highly positive buzz surrounding the show, which convinced NBCUniversal to greenlight Season 2 without even waiting for the premiere's viewership numbers.

Stars Domhnall Gleeson, who plays a role reminiscent of Michael Scott, and Sabrina Impacciatore, widely recognized for her role in "The White Lotus" Season 2, broke the news during an appearance on the Today show to promote the series.

The renewal is perfectly timed for co-creator Greg Daniels, who has already begun writing the second season. He and co-executive producer and showrunner Michael Koman are developing the next batch of episodes, with plans to release the new season around the same time in 2026.

“We definitely have ideas,” Daniels recently told Variety. “We've been discussing storylines for a potential second season, and we're excited to see how audiences respond. We've received great feedback from people within the company, journalists, and friends, but you never know what the wider community of Office fans will think.”

Peacock will release all 10 episodes of Season 1 beginning September 4. The season connects to the original series by featuring the same documentary crew that filmed Dunder Mifflin Scranton, now following Gleeson's team of journalists.
