Take-Two CEO Optimistic About Nintendo Switch 2

With the highly anticipated launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 just around the corner, the gaming industry is abuzz with speculation about pricing, tariffs, and game key cards. Amidst this, one third-party publisher, Take-Two Interactive, stands out with an optimistic outlook on the new console. In a recent Q&A session with investors following the company's full-year earnings report, CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed his "great optimism" regarding Nintendo's latest platform.

Zelnick highlighted the improved relationship between Nintendo and third-party publishers, stating that Nintendo has been more open and supportive than in previous console generations. He revealed that Take-Two Interactive plans to launch four titles on the Nintendo Switch 2, marking a significant commitment compared to their past releases on Nintendo platforms. The titles include Civilization 7, set to launch on June 5 alongside the console, followed by entries in the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series (though specific games and release dates remain unclear), and Borderlands 4, slated for September 12.

While these titles are not surprising given Take-Two's existing portfolio on the original Nintendo Switch, Zelnick's comments suggest potential for further releases from their extensive catalog. Although a game like GTA 6 might not be in the cards for the Switch 2, older titles such as GTA V could eventually find their way onto the platform.

In a pre-investor call discussion, Zelnick also touched on the development timeline for GTA 6, which has faced a delay into next year. His insights provide a clearer picture of Take-Two's strategic approach to the evolving gaming landscape, emphasizing their intent to cater to consumer preferences across various platforms while considering each title on a case-by-case basis.
