The Sims franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary with a spectacular lineup of in-game events, a marathon livestream, and the highly anticipated return of two classic titles! Join us as we explore the festivities.
Happy 25th Anniversary, The Sims!
A Celebration of Events and Free Gifts
The Sims is marking its milestone anniversary with a plethora of in-game rewards, a star-studded livestream showcasing top Simmers, and the triumphant comeback of The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 on PC.
Kevin Gibson, The Sims Production Director, shared with Xbox Wire, "Our amazing players have demonstrated that no one captures life quite like The Sims, and we wanted to commemorate this shared journey." He highlighted the game's impact across generations, touching millions of lives. He emphasized that this success wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of players over the past two decades.
"Every Simmer, throughout the years and across all versions of The Sims, is a part of this 25-year adventure, and this is our way of saying thank you."
The Return of The Sims 1 and The Sims 2
The biggest news? Players can revisit the origins of their favorite life simulation game! To celebrate the 25th anniversary, The Sims 1 and The Sims 2, including all their DLC, are now available for purchase on Steam and the EA store, individually or as a special Birthday Bundle.
This is a significant event for Simmers, as the first two titles were unavailable for purchase for almost a decade. Even with physical copies, running them on modern systems was challenging. EA has addressed this by releasing versions optimized for modern PCs, fulfilling a long-awaited wish of the community.
In-Game Festivities for The Sims 4 and The Sims FreePlay
The Sims 4's "Blast From The Past" event introduces iconic clothing, furniture, and décor from earlier games. Over four weeks, new items will be added, including neon inflatable chairs, a three-tiered cake, a light-up dance floor, and even rotary phones.
Meanwhile, The Sims FreePlay's Birthday Update transports players back to the series' early 2000s roots, featuring new Live Events ("The One with the Coffee Shop" and "Reality Island"), a velour tracksuit, 25 days of daily gifts, and a Social Town museum showcasing The Sims' history.
A 25-Hour Livestream for 25 Years
The anniversary celebration kicked off with a 25-hour livestream on February 4th, featuring numerous celebrities, streamers, and beloved Simmers. Guests included Doja Cat, Latto, Trixie Mattel and Katya, Dan & Phil, Plumbella, Angelo & Lexy, Ironmouse, and many more.
