The series marks the comic debut of Ben H. Winters (author of the Last Policeman Trilogy), with art by Leomacs. Oni Press describes the protagonist:
Benjamin J. Carp was a counterculture sci-fi icon who published 44 novels before his 1982 death. Now, he mysteriously awakens in a dilapidated Los Angeles motel in 2025 with no memory of resurrection. As he navigates this unfamiliar future, he begins the ultimate mystery - investigating his own impossible existence.
Writer's Perspective
"This isn't autobiography," Winters jokes to IGN, "just because it's about a middle-aged sci-fi writer wandering LA doesn't mean...wait." He continues: "We're tackling life's big questions through a bizarre, humorous adventure about resurrection. There's even a wonderful dog named Strawman - what more could readers want?"
Benjamin #1 arrives June 18, 2025. The series blends existential themes with noir-inspired mystery as Carp investigates his own resurrection across a transformed Los Angeles landscape. An animated trailer is also available.
