The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered PC players encountered issues following today's surprise update, though Bethesda confirms a solution is in development.

Gamers were greeted by an unannounced patch for Virtuos' ambitious remaster earlier today. With no official patch notes explaining the changes, many continued playing normally—until reports emerged that the update was creating more problems than it resolved.

Yoooo why would @virtuosgames push an update to Oblivion Remastered that removes all upscaling right before the games first weekend?!!?

"Upscaling options are completely locked now," a Reddit user reported. "The setting is stuck on 'off' and won't respond to inputs. After restarting the game, my loading times have doubled and I still can't adjust upscaling settings.

"I'm now getting inconsistent 40-60 fps on high settings with a 5800X3D and RTX 5080. Great patch."

While some players report stable performance, many are experiencing new framerate drops and visual issues. The most widespread complaint involves disabled upscaling options just as Oblivion Remastered enters its debut weekend.

Regarding the update's purpose, the company stated it contained "minor backend adjustments with no intended gameplay impact." The issues appear primarily affecting Microsoft Store versions where upscaling and anti-aliasing controls became inaccessible.

"Previously configured graphic settings remain active and functional," Bethesda clarified. "However, the settings UI currently prevents adjustments. Our team is investigating and will share updates when available."
