Lobby Crash Issues Plague Call of Duty: Warzone

Author : Jason Feb 11,2025

Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still under development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.

Temporary Fix Implemented:

Following player reports of freezing and crashing issues during loading screens, starting January 6th, Raven Software investigated. Although the underlying bug remains unpatched (as of January 9th, according to their Trello board), a crucial update was deployed. This update suspends Skill Rating (SR) penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses player frustration over unwarranted penalties caused by the glitch. Penalties for leaving mid-match remain in effect.

Background and Impact:

2024 presented significant challenges for the Call of Duty franchise and Raven Software. Previous issues included temporary server outages and ongoing problems with cheating and bugs. This latest loading screen crash adds to the ongoing difficulties. The temporary penalty suspension aims to mitigate the negative impact on players while the core issue is addressed. However, the persistence of bugs, even after a major January 2025 update, continues to be a concern for the community.

The developers are actively working on a permanent solution, but the temporary measure provides immediate relief from unfair penalties. The situation highlights the ongoing challenges in maintaining a large-scale online game.
