Halo Infinite Update Boosts Xbox FPS: Calls for Relaunch Campaign

Author : Sebastian May 23,2025

Halo Infinite's "Summer 2025 Update," running until June 10, is now live, bringing a fresh wave of content to the beloved series. This update introduces new playlists, the powerful Mutilator weapon, sandbox updates, and enhanced Forge tools. Players can also explore more weapons on the Weapon Bench, enjoy 50 additional tiers, unlock four new armor sets, gain bonus XP, and utilize an extra challenge slot by upgrading to the Premium Operation Pass.

While some fans believe these updates may be too little too late, Halo Infinite has undergone significant transformations since its launch. The developer, originally known as 343 Industries, rebranded to Halo Studios amidst a sharp decline in player numbers. Fans had voiced their frustrations over the lack of content, ineffective progression systems, monetization issues, and the cancellation of a highly anticipated battle royale mode.

However, a segment of the community feels that Halo Infinite has never been better. In a Reddit thread titled "Halo Infinite REALLY should do a 'relaunch' ad campaign. It's just not the same game as at launch. Not even close," one enthusiast shared their experience: "I can't imagine anyone who likes Halo but hasn't given this game a chance, or haven't played since launch, would be disappointed coming back. And I can't imagine they or especially the general gaming public, realize how much has been added and changed."

They elaborated on the game's evolution, highlighting additions such as three new guns, numerous maps, various firefight modes, and an extensive range of items to unlock and grind for. They suggested that a trailer showcasing these updates could significantly boost the game's reputation and attract returning players. Other fans echoed this sentiment, praising the game's improvements and its status as the best Halo title since Halo 3, and even the finest work by 343 Industries to date.

In another thread featuring the iconic image of Master Chief from Halo Infinite's marketing, players shared their renewed love for the game. One player, who started playing halfway through Season 1, praised the game's Spartan customization, rotating game modes, engaging custom games, and unique campaign. They highlighted the fluid gameplay that blends classic Halo feel with modern upgrades, expressing optimism about the game's future and considering it among their favorites in the series.

Despite the positive feedback, not all fans are convinced. One expressed a sense of lost hope, feeling that the magic of Halo may have dissipated with the departure of key team members.

IGN awarded Halo Infinite's single-player campaign a 9/10 in their review, lauding it as exactly what the series needed. The campaign was praised for enhancing Master Chief's combat style and creating memorable moments, though the story was seen as falling short.

With Microsoft's strategy to release games across multiple platforms, speculation abounds on whether Halo might follow suit, joining titles like Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War on PlayStation. Phil Spencer, Microsoft's gaming chief, hinted at the possibility by stating there are no "red lines" in their first-party lineup.
