Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5's Michael De Santa (Ned Luke) predicts blockbuster sales for GTA 6, fueling anticipation among fans. This article explores Luke's predictions and the game's development status.
Rockstar Games' Unpredictable Approach to GTA 6
GTA 6: A $1.3 Billion Day-One Prediction?
Ned Luke boldly forecasts $1.3 billion in first-day sales for GTA 6. In a recent interview with Fall Damage, he expressed confidence in the game's potential, highlighting Rockstar's knack for the unexpected. He emphasized the game's worthiness of the wait, recalling GTA 5's impressive $800 million opening day in 2013 and predicting GTA 6 will significantly surpass that figure. DFC Intelligence supports this optimism, projecting over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in first-year revenue, with $1 billion attributed to pre-orders alone.
The Return of GTA 5 Characters?
Luke also offered insights into the potential return of GTA 5 characters. While Michael has been absent from GTA Online, Trevor and Franklin have made appearances. Luke hinted at Michael's possible inclusion in a final GTA Online DLC or even GTA 6 itself. Steven Ogg (Trevor) previously suggested a "passing the torch" scenario where Trevor meets his end early in GTA 6. Luke remained coy, stating that Rockstar's secrecy is paramount, and any comments from the actors could upset the developers. While both actors are keen to reprise their roles, official confirmation remains elusive.
GTA 6: Internal Testing Phase?
Former Rockstar animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with Kiwi Talkz, he described the game's unique unpredictability, emphasizing the unforeseen challenges that only extensive testing can reveal. He believes the game is likely playable at this stage, with numerous internal testers already having experienced it.
Rockstar Games unveiled GTA 6 in a December 2023 trailer, but details have been scarce since. While a Fall 2025 release was initially speculated based on Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report, an official release date remains unconfirmed.
