Devil May Cry 5 has achieved the remarkable sales milestone of 10 million units, with Capcom crediting the recently launched Netflix anime for helping it cross that threshold.
Devil May Cry 5 was released in March 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, earning praise from both fans and critics. IGN's review scored it 9.5, stating: "Devil May Cry 5's trio of exceptional combat styles raises the bar for the series, while its enigmatic storyline keeps players engaged throughout."
Six years on, Devil May Cry 5 stands as a monumental success for Capcom. The company noted, "The title has garnered strong user support thanks to its superb gameplay, driving sustained sales as a catalog title since launch."
Capcom enhanced the game with more sophisticated storytelling and action through a new playable character. More recently, on April 3, 2025, the company launched the Devil May Cry animated series on Netflix, aligning with its Single Content Multiple Usage strategy.
The animated series received worldwide critical acclaim, with over 5.3 million views placing it fourth globally in the "Shows | English" category during its first week. It also remained in Japan's top 10 for seven consecutive days. Thanks to the game's thrilling action and efforts to boost brand visibility through adaptations beyond gaming, cumulative sales have now surpassed 10 million units worldwide.
Devil May Cry 5's triumph (the franchise has sold over 33 million units since its 2001 debut) raises the question: when will Devil May Cry 6 be released? Another installment seems inevitable, especially since DMC5 has sold 10 million units in the six years since its 2019 launch.

Capcom is keeping details under wraps for now, as it has a full slate. Beyond supporting existing titles like Monster Hunter Wilds and Street Fighter 6, the company has the newly announced Resident Evil: Requiem and the re-revealed Pragmata in development.
However, Devil May Cry 5 is by far the best-selling entry in the series and has broken into Capcom's all-time top 10 best-selling games list. Dante and his allies will surely make a comeback eventually. The only question is: when?
