Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, a standout title in the franchise, delivers the series' signature adrenaline-pumping multiplayer action. Highly customizable, the game offers numerous settings to optimize your gameplay experience. A long-standing feature, killcams, are now easily disabled, eliminating the need to skip them after each death.
Returning players might find some of the more stylized character skins and kill effects introduced through seasonal updates a bit jarring. This guide shows you how to disable both killcams and these flashy kill effects in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 if they disrupt your gameplay.
How to Turn Off Killcams
The killcam in Call of Duty lets you see your killer's perspective after you've been eliminated in standard game modes. While helpful for identifying camper locations, the constant need to skip it can be tedious. Pressing Square/X skips the killcam, but you still experience a brief respawn delay.
To disable killcams entirely:
- In the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer menu, press the Start/Options/Menu button to access Settings.
- Navigate to the Interface settings. Here, you'll find the "Skip Killcam" toggle.
- Set it to "Off." No more skipping required!
If curiosity strikes, holding Square/X after death still allows you to view the killcam as usual.
How to Turn Off Kill Effects
Many weapon skins, unlockable via the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 battle pass, introduce unique death animations. These range from purple laser beams to other fantastical effects. However, these additions are divisive, with some veteran players finding them distracting.
To disable these death animations:
- Access the Settings menu from the multiplayer menu (Start/Options/Menu).
- Scroll down to Account & Network settings.
- Under Content Filter settings, toggle "Dismemberment & Gore Effects" to "Off." This removes the more elaborate battle pass kill animations.
