Mr. M KUMARARAMAN, retired teacher and Kalaimani recipient, along with Kalaimani Mr. M KANNAN KUMAR and Kalaimani Mr. K NELLAI MANIKANDAN from Zamin Kodangipatti—honored with the prestigious KALAIMAMANI, KALAIMANI, and USTAD BISMILLAH KHAN YUVA PURASKAR awards respectively—this app celebrates Devarattam's legacy. I dedicate it to these esteemed legends, my mentor Mr. E RAJAKAMULU, and the cherished traditions of Devarattam. Designed to promote Devarattam and its distinguished awardees, this app provides insights into the artform and its celebrated practitioners. Devarattam, a traditional folk dance of Tamilnadu, was historically performed by the Rajakambalathu Nayakkar community and continues to thrive today. The dance comprises 32 foundational steps, with variations extending up to 72 steps.
Devarattam dancers gracefully move with kerchiefs in each hand and Salangai bells adorning their ankles, synchronizing their steps to the rhythmic beats of the Deva Thunthumi percussion instrument.
