Western-Themed Sim "Wild West Dynasty" Debuts

Cattle Country, a soon-to-be-released Steam game, promises a Wild West twist on the popular farming and life sim genre, reminiscent of Stardew Valley. While offering familiar farming mechanics like crop cultivation, building, and community interaction, Cattle Country distinguishes itself with its unique setting.

Castle Pixel, the independent developer behind Cattle Country, has a history of creating diverse games, from the 2D platformer Rex Rocket to the fantasy adventure Blossom Tales 2. Cattle Country marks their first foray into the farming sim market.

The game's Steam description highlights its "Cozy Cowboy Adventure Life Sim" nature. Players can construct a mountain home, contribute to town development, and forge friendships with villagers – all hallmarks of the cozy life sim genre. However, Cattle Country's western theme sets it apart.

What Makes Cattle Country Unique?

The old west setting is a key differentiator. Promotional materials showcase scenes of nighttime cattle herding by campfire light, horse-drawn wagons traversing dusty roads, and even more action-oriented sequences such as saloon shootouts and bare-knuckle brawls. Mining is presented in a 2D Terraria-style format.

Despite the unique setting, familiar farming elements remain: planting and harvesting, using scarecrows, and lumberjacking. The game also features festivals, including a Santa Claus-themed Christmas celebration and square dancing, adding a unique spin to established conventions.

While a release date is yet to be announced, Cattle Country is available for wishlisting on Steam.
