Get ready, Pokémon GO trainers! January's first week is almost over, and the next Spotlight Hour event is just around the corner – this Tuesday! With numerous events already underway, make sure you've stocked up on Poké Balls and Berries. This Spotlight Hour promises to be a busy one.

Pokémon GO consistently delivers exciting monthly events, including Max Mondays, Community Days, and the weekly Spotlight Hours, each featuring a specific Pokémon with a chance to snag a Shiny. Here's the lowdown on this week's event.

Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour

Mark your calendars! The Spotlight Hour runs from 6 PM to 7 PM Local Time on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. This week's featured Pokémon are Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, doubling your chances for Shiny catches! Both offer significant combat advantages, delivering powerful electric attacks.

Prepare for a double catch! Stock up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense. You'll be catching twice the Pokémon, so maximizing your chances of catching and evolving Shiny versions is key. Also, clear some space in your Pokémon storage – you'll be catching a lot!

Voltorb (#100 in the Pokédex), a Kanto region Pokémon, is a two-stage evolution. Catching it yields 3 candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode using 50 candies. With a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, Voltorb packs a punch. As an Electric-type, it's weak against Ground-type attacks (160% damage) but resists Electric, Flying, and Steel-type attacks (63% damage). The optimal moveset is Spark and Discharge, delivering 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO, boosted further in rainy weather. A blue Shiny Voltorb awaits!

Hisuian Voltorb, also #100 in the Pokédex, shares Voltorb's stats (1141 CP, 111 Defense, 109 Attack) and two-stage evolution. The catch rewards are the same: 3 candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Hisuian Electrode with 50 candies. While also Electric-type, its strengths and weaknesses differ slightly. Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type attacks deal 160% damage, while Grass, Steel, and Water-type attacks deal 63% damage. Other Electric-type attacks deal 39% damage. Its best moveset is Tackle and Thunderbolt, providing 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO. Weather boosts are available in Partly Cloudy and Rainy conditions. Look for the Shiny variant with its distinctive black body!
