Finnish game developer Supercell has made a surprising announcement: after cancelling their RPG, Clash Heroes, they're reviving the concept as Project R.I.S.E. This isn't a simple relaunch, however.
The Lowdown on Project R.I.S.E.
Clash Heroes is officially defunct. Following in the footsteps of Clash Mini, it's been shelved. However, Supercell is giving the game a new lease on life with Project R.I.S.E., a social action RPG roguelite set within the familiar Clash universe.
In a recent announcement video, game lead Julien Le Cadre confirmed the cancellation of Clash Heroes, but emphasized that Project R.I.S.E. is a multiplayer-focused action RPG, significantly different from its predecessor.
For more details, watch the announcement video:
Project R.I.S.E. shares some DNA with Clash Heroes, but it's a completely new game. Players will team up in groups of three to explore The Tower, a mysterious location with procedurally generated floors. The objective is to ascend as many levels as possible. Unlike Clash Heroes' PvE focus, Project R.I.S.E. emphasizes cooperative gameplay with a diverse cast of characters.
Currently in pre-alpha, Project R.I.S.E. is slated for its first playtest in early July 2024. Registration for a chance to participate is open on the official website.
