Romancing SaGa Re:universe Global Server Closure Announced
The global version of Romancing SaGa Re:universe will officially cease operations on December 2nd, 2024. While this news may come as a surprise to some, the Japanese version will continue to operate.
Two Months Remain
The game's shutdown date is confirmed for December. In-app purchases using paid jewels and Google Play Points exchanges have already been disabled following the September 29th, 2024 maintenance.
Launched globally in June 2020, the game's four-year run is coming to a close. Despite its impressive visuals, soundtrack, and generous gacha mechanics, Romancing SaGa Re:universe received mixed player reception.
Unlike its successful Japanese counterpart, the global version experienced fluctuating popularity. The omission of significant content updates, such as Solistia and 6-star unit upgrades (available in Japan for nearly a year), contributed to player dissatisfaction and ultimately, the game's closure.
Community Reaction
Square Enix has already shut down several titles this year, including Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius and two Dragon Quest mobile games, adding to the list with Romancing SaGa Re:universe's global server.
A classic turn-based RPG based on the SaGa franchise, players have approximately two months remaining to enjoy the global version. Those unfamiliar with the game can download it from the Google Play Store.
