SoMoGa Drops A Revamped Version Of 16-Bit Classic JRPG Vay On Android

SoMoGa Inc. has unveiled a remastered edition of Vay, now available on Android, iOS, and Steam. This classic 16-bit RPG returns with enhanced visuals, a modernized user interface, and controller support.

Originally launched in Japan in 1993 for the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized for the US by Working Designs), Vay received an iOS re-release by SoMoGa in 2008. This new version builds upon that legacy.

What's New in the Remastered Vay?

The revamped Vay boasts over 100 enemies, a dozen challenging bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A standout feature is the adjustable difficulty levels, catering to various player preferences. Convenience is enhanced with an auto-save function and Bluetooth controller support for flexible gameplay. Players can acquire new equipment and items, learn new spells as characters level up, and even utilize an AI system for autonomous character combat.

The Story:

Set in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennium-long interstellar war, Vay unfolds on a technologically underdeveloped planet after a catastrophic machine crash-lands. This self-destructing machine, its guidance system malfunctioning, wreaked havoc before its impact.

The player embarks on a quest to rescue their abducted wife, a mission that could potentially save the entire world. The idyllic wedding day turns into a desperate struggle for survival as the bride is kidnapped, prompting an epic journey to thwart the war machines.

Vay's compelling narrative blends nostalgia with fresh elements. Faithful to its JRPG roots, the game features experience and gold acquisition through random encounters and includes nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes with both English and Japanese audio options.

Download the premium version of the remastered Vay from the Google Play Store for $5.99. Be sure to check out our other gaming news as well.
