Popular Destiny 2 Exotic Weapon Disabled Over Game Breaking Exploit

Bungie disables Destiny 2's Hawkmoon hand cannon in PvP due to an exploit. Destiny 2, a live-service game, has a history of bugs and exploits over its six-year lifespan. The recent release of "The Final Shape" expansion, while largely well-received, also introduced new issues, including one affecting the No Hesitation auto rifle's performance against barrier champions.

However, the current focus is on Hawkmoon, a popular exotic hand cannon that has become problematic in Crucible (PvP) matches. Its return in Season of the Hunt made it a player favorite, especially due to its unique perks and Xur's weekly sales. Recently, however, an exploit involving the Kinetic Holster leg mod allowed players to perpetually maintain Hawkmoon's Paracausal Shot perk, resulting in overpowered, one-shot kills.

This exploit prompted Bungie to temporarily disable Hawkmoon from all PvP activities, including Crucible. The Bungie Help Twitter account announced the disablement, though specifics on the exploit remained initially vague. This action follows another recent Crucible exploit allowing players to farm rewards while AFK in private matches. While that exploit was also quickly addressed by Bungie, the removal of rewards from private matches generated some player frustration. The rapid response to both exploits highlights Bungie's ongoing commitment to maintaining a fair and balanced gameplay experience in Destiny 2.
