Black Kyurem and White Kyurem are finally arriving in Pokémon GO as part of the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova, alongside a Shiny Meloetta! Learn how to catch and fuse these legendary Pokémon below.
Legendary Pokémon Debut
Following the December 2024 announcement, Niantic has revealed the exciting addition of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and Shiny Meloetta to the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova, taking place February 21-23, 2025, in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA. This event offers a unique opportunity to capture and fuse Kyurem into its powerful alternate forms.
To obtain base Kyurem, players must conquer Black or White Kyurem in five-star raids.
Kyurem Fusion
Once you've caught Kyurem, you can fuse it with either Zekrom or Reshiram to create Black or White Kyurem respectively. This fusion unlocks powerful new attacks: Freeze Shock (Black Kyurem) and Ice Burn (White Kyurem). Here's what you'll need:
- Black Kyurem: 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Zekrom Candy
- White Kyurem: 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy
Fusion Energies are earned by defeating Black or White Kyurem in raids. Reversion to the base Kyurem form is free. Shiny Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom will have increased encounter rates during the event.
A global event, Pokémon GO Tour: Unova – Global, will run March 1-2, 2025, offering a ticket-free opportunity for all players to participate.
Shiny Meloetta Arrives!
Shiny Meloetta makes its Pokémon GO debut! In-person event attendees can complete a Masterwork Research task to encounter this elusive Pokémon. The research doesn't expire, allowing completion at your own pace.
Iconic Unova Legendaries
Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta originally appeared in Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation of Pokémon games set in the Unova region. Black and White 2 introduced Kyurem's alternate forms, capable of learning Ice Burn and Freeze Shock, mirroring their Pokémon GO counterparts. This limited-time event brings the complete Unova experience to Pokémon GO.
