Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Slices Through Sales Success

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Surpasses 200,000 Units Sold, Proving a Resurgence for the Classic Action Title

Released late last year, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has reportedly achieved significant sales success, exceeding 200,000 units sold. Despite initial technical hurdles and controversy surrounding censorship, the game's popularity is undeniable, showcasing strong consumer demand.

Developed by Dragami Games (the original was by Grasshopper Manufacture, known for No More Heroes), this action-packed hack-and-slash title features Juliet Starling, a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader battling zombies. The remaster boasts enhanced visuals and improved gameplay mechanics.

Months after its September 2024 launch across current and last-gen consoles, and PC, Dragami Games announced the impressive sales milestone via a recent tweet.

Celebrating Success: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Sales Triumph

The game casts players as Juliet, uncovering her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is overrun. Players engage in thrilling combat using Juliet's chainsaw, reminiscent of titles like Bayonetta.

While the original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sold over a million copies, RePOP's success is still noteworthy. The original game's appeal stemmed from the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda and James Gunn, the latter contributing to the storyline.

Currently, there's no confirmation of future DLC or a sequel. However, the positive sales figures suggest a promising future for remasters of cult classic games. This success follows the recent release of another Grasshopper Manufacture title, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, further highlighting the renewed interest in these titles.
