Following the successful launch of Quidditch Champions, Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed development of a sequel to the immensely popular Hogwarts Legacy, the best-selling game of 2023.

A Sequel Expected Within a Few Years
During the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels confirmed plans for a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy, a title that has sold over 24 million copies since its release. Variety reported Wiedenfels stating that a sequel is a top priority for the company within the next couple of years, contributing significantly to their projected games business growth.
"Clearly, a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is a top priority for us in the coming years," Wiedenfels explained. "We anticipate significant growth from our games division based on this [and other projects]."
Earlier this year, Warner Bros. Games' David Haddad highlighted the game's remarkable replayability as a key factor in its success. In an interview with Variety, Haddad noted the high number of players who have completed the game multiple times. He emphasized that Hogwarts Legacy's success extends beyond sales figures and replayability; the game successfully brought the Harry Potter universe to life in a fresh and engaging way for gamers, allowing players to immerse themselves in the story and create their own unique experiences.
Haddad believes this aspect resonated deeply with fans, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts, a position typically held by established franchises' sequels. He expressed pride in the game's achievement in breaking into the top ranks.
