Nvidia showcases new Doom: The Dark Ages gameplay
Nvidia's recent hardware and software showcase unveiled a brief glimpse of the highly anticipated Doom: The Dark Ages. This 12-second teaser highlights the game's diverse environments and features the iconic Doom Slayer, sporting a new shield. The game, confirmed for release on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC in 2025, will leverage DLSS 4 technology.
First revealed at last year's Xbox Games Showcase, Doom: The Dark Ages continues the legacy of id Software's successful Doom reboot series (beginning with 2016's Doom). Building upon the foundation of intense combat and brutal environments, Doom: The Dark Ages promises significant visual enhancements, showcasing a variety of locales ranging from opulent corridors to desolate landscapes.
The newly released footage, part of Nvidia's ray tracing demonstration, doesn't feature combat, but effectively demonstrates the game's level design. Nvidia's blog post confirms the game will utilize the latest idTech engine and ray reconstruction on the new RTX 50 series.
Beyond Doom: The Dark Ages, Nvidia's showcase also included previews of CD Projekt Red's next Witcher title and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, highlighting the advancements in visual fidelity achievable with their new GeForce RTX 50 series. While a precise release date for Doom: The Dark Ages remains unannounced, further details regarding the story, enemies, and combat are expected throughout 2025.
