Escape Academy: Epic Games Store's Top-Rated Freebie for January 16th

Escape Academy, a critically acclaimed escape-room style puzzle game, is the Epic Games Store's free game offering from January 16th to 23rd. This marks the fourth free game offered by the EGS in 2025 and, based on its OpenCritic score of 80 (88% recommendation rate), is currently the highest-rated free game they've offered this year.

Developed by Coin Crew Games, Escape Academy challenges players to hone their skills as aspiring "escape room masters" within the game's academy setting. Initially launched in July 2022 for PC and consoles, the game offers both solo and engaging online/split-screen multiplayer experiences, praised as one of the best co-op puzzle games recently.

While previously offered as a free mystery game on the EGS on January 1st, 2024, this giveaway provides a full week of access, conveniently timed for Xbox Game Pass subscribers as the game is leaving the service on January 15th.
