A Decade in the Making
The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a long and complex process, spanning nearly a decade due to several delays. Development began in 2015, following Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare's focus shifted to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, impacting resources and delaying the project—initially codenamed "Joplin." Furthermore, an initial design clash with the company's live-service strategy led to a complete development halt.
The project was revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison." After further development, it was formally announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022, before settling on its current title.
Despite the challenges, the journey is nearing its end. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Prepare for your return to Thedas!
