The mobile strategy tower defense game, Code Geass: Lost Stories, is ending its global run. While the Japanese version will continue, the global servers are officially shutting down on August 29th, 2024. This means no more logins, purchases, or access to the game's global social media after that date. Downloads were halted immediately following the announcement.
Despite its foundation in the popular Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion anime and manga franchise (created by Sunrise), and development by f4samurai and DMM Games (published by Komoe), the game, launched globally in September 2023, failed to gain traction internationally.
Reasons for Closure:
While no official reason was given, the game's low download numbers and generally unfavorable global reviews likely contributed to its early demise. Licensed anime gacha games often struggle outside of Japan, where player spending tends to be higher. The game's blend of RPG, action, and tower defense elements, while potentially appealing, couldn't overcome these challenges.
For Japanese players, the game remains available on the Google Play Store. In the meantime, be sure to check out other gaming news, such as the Sky: Children of the Light Tournament of Triumph!
