Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his strategy game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's popular 2020 release, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by Frenken, a part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles his initial vision for Herodom.
Battledom offers flexible RTS combat mechanics, allowing players to freely maneuver units across the battlefield. Players directly target enemies and manually control siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations are also available, adding a layer of tactical depth.
Players use coins to recruit units, initially equipped with basic weapons and no armor. However, extensive customization is possible through equipping weapons and armor, each affecting stats such as range, accuracy, defense, and attack power.
Resource gathering is key. Players collect resources like wood, leather, and coal within their village to craft these upgrades at various workshops, including the blacksmith and magician.
Frenken is widely recognized for Herodom, which boasts a 4.6 App Store rating. Herodom features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Progression unlocks new hairstyles, body types, crops, and farm animals.
iOS users can participate in the Battledom alpha test via TestFlight. For updates and news, follow Sander Frenken on X or Reddit. His other games are also available on the App Store.
