Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Confirms No DRM
Also No Microtransactions

A recent FAQ from Saber Interactive, the developer of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, outlines what players can anticipate. With the game's September 9 launch approaching, the studio has clarified that the title will not utilize DRM solutions such as Denuvo.
Digital rights management (DRM) is commonly implemented to protect intellectual property and deter piracy. However, its reception among gamers has been mixed, with many pointing out potential performance drawbacks. Notable controversies include Capcom's use of Enigma DRM in Monster Hunter Rise, which reportedly hindered Steam Deck compatibility and mod support.
Although Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will ship without DRM, Saber Interactive has confirmed that the PC version will employ Easy Anti-Cheat software at launch. Earlier this year, Easy Anti-Cheat came under scrutiny when it was suspected to be linked to a hacking incident during the Apex Legends ALGS 2024 tournament in March.
The developers have also mentioned that official mod support is not currently planned, which may disappoint some fans. Nevertheless, the game promises a variety of engaging modes, including PvP arena battles, a cooperative horde mode, and a detailed photo mode. Saber Interactive further assures that all core gameplay features will be available free of charge, with monetization limited strictly to optional cosmetic items—no paid downloadable content impacting gameplay is anticipated.
