WoW's Plunderstorm Event Delayed Due to Unexpected Issues
The highly anticipated return of World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been delayed due to unforeseen technical difficulties. While Blizzard initially aimed for a launch before the end of January 14th, 2025, no new release time has been announced.
Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was slated to return with both original and new rewards. However, unexpected issues arose during the planned server maintenance, forcing an extension beyond the initial eight-hour window. A community manager confirmed the setback, citing these unforeseen problems as the cause of the delay.
Plunderstorm Launch Timeline:
- Currently delayed; targeted for completion before the end of January 14th, 2025.
In the meantime, World of Warcraft's regular servers are online. Players can engage in other activities, such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the Turbulent Timeways event, or pursuing other content within the game.
The second iteration of Plunderstorm includes new features like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface. These additions may be contributing to the technical challenges.
Despite the delay, the Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are active. Viewers can earn the Coward's Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch stream before February 4th at 10 AM PST. The streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to qualify.
