Short Circuit Studio has revealed a major update for TownsFolk, their recently launched pixel-art settlement builder. Embracing the game's darker aesthetic, this substantial "Shadows and Fortune" update introduces several fresh gameplay elements.
The development team proves that even newly launched games can quickly expand their depth. This update delivers exciting new structures and dynamic threats, including marauding Barbarians that will test your strategic skills across both campaign and Skirmish modes. Players gain access to eight innovative buildings: the Altar, Town Square, Blacksmith, Aqueduct, Bank, Granary, Factory, and Terraformer.
Aquatic environments receive attention too, now featuring rare Whale sightings alongside mysterious Special Locations like ancient Obelisks and newly added Shipwrecks that create unexpected scenarios.
To help navigate these additions, developers included a comprehensive Compendium that serves as an in-game encyclopedia. The Exploration System underwent improvements, while Campaign Difficulty now offers adjustable Frontier and Survival modes for varied challenges.
