DC Comics announces Superman Unlimited, a new monthly series debuting May 2025, bringing acclaimed Marvel writer Dan Slott back to DC. Slott, known for The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Fantastic Four, returns to DC after a two-decade Marvel exclusivity, marking a significant event for comic fans.

Slott states, "He’s the greatest superhero, and I've waited my whole life to tell his stories. Rafael and I will take Superman—and you—to incredible places each month. Expect surprising twists involving Superman, Lois, allies, classic villains, and brand-new characters."

The series introduces a perilous new reality. A Kryptonite asteroid shower empowers Superman's enemies, like Intergang, with Kryptonite-enhanced weaponry. This necessitates innovative technology and tactics for Superman. Simultaneously, Clark Kent faces a transformed Daily Planet, now a global multimedia giant after merging with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications.

DC group editor Paul Kaminski compares the series to Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness's Superman/Batman, promising "big, fun, high-flying adventures," alongside a significant storyline involving a massive Kryptonite deposit. Kaminski highlights a world where even petty criminals wield Kryptonite weapons, presenting an unprecedented challenge for Superman and his allies. He contrasts this with the Justice League Unlimited series, emphasizing Superman Unlimited's focus on super-villains empowered by the widespread Kryptonite.

A 10-page prelude appears in DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1 (May 3, 2025), followed by Superman Unlimited #1 on May 21, preceding James Gunn's Superman film (July 11).
