Journey with Nico, the Veteran
In Sunset Hills, you assume the role of author Nico Grant, a former soldier. The story begins in June 794 as he embarks on a train journey to reconnect with his old army comrades.
Seven years have passed since the war's end, yet an inner compulsion drives him to seek them out. His destination is to visit three friends: Ferruccio, Doug, and Roy.
The narrative gently reveals emotions and recollections. As a child, Nico was a quiet boy who preferred books to company, often retreating into his own imaginative world.
Like many others, he was drafted into the war. His small stature and unique nature made him a target for bullying, often leaving him struggling to keep pace with the others. He discovered solace and a means of expression through writing.
A simple notebook became his refuge. Remarkably, this same book eventually became the unexpected bond that connected him with his squadmates. Initial mockery slowly transformed into enduring friendships that survived long after the conflict.
Now a published novelist, Nico's pilgrimage takes him by rail through various towns and nations. Each stop invites you to engage with poignant moments while solving interactive puzzles.
Sunset Hills Explores the Quirks of Post-War Life
This is a point-and-click adventure where dialogue is key. You gather clues from conversations, collect and combine objects, and deduce how elements interconnect.
Puzzles range from locating specific items to assisting townsfolk, resolving minor mysteries, or evading pursuit. You'll also find yourself mending garments, baking loaves of bread, and even performing with a musical troupe.
The game features a distinctive blend of hand-drawn artwork and 3D environments. The Victorian-inspired architecture adds a unique charm to the scenery. You can watch the official trailer below.
