Steve's Lava Chicken Sets UK Chart Record

If you've recently watched The Minecraft Movie in theaters, you likely remember Jack Black's brief but catchy Lava Chicken song that plays during a memorable lava sequence.

Black, who voices Steve, performs this 34-second tune while Jason Momoa's character and others watch a chicken get cooked by falling lava. Despite its short length, the song has exploded in popularity across social media platforms.

The track has now made history by debuting at No. 21 on the UK's official singles chart, becoming the shortest song ever to chart. "Streaming and viral trends are redefining what constitutes a hit," commented ERA, the UK's digital entertainment trade association.

This isn't Black's first viral gaming-related musical success. His 95-second love ballad "Peaches" from The Super Mario Bros. Movie (which he performed and co-wrote as Bowser) previously charted on the Billboard Hot 100 - marking his first solo song to achieve this milestone. His band Tenacious D had previously charted in 2006 with "The Pick of Destiny" at No. 78.

Other notably short charting songs include Spider Pig (64 seconds) from 2007's The Simpsons Movie and Liam Lynch's punk anthem United States of Whatever (86 seconds) from 2002.

Beyond the song's success, The Minecraft Movie has generated multiple viral moments. Social media platforms like TikTok exploded with clips of enthusiastic fans - some even brought live chickens to their screenings.
