Stellar Blade's Patch 1.009: A Mixed Bag of New Content and Game-Breaking Bugs

The highly anticipated Photo Mode and NieR: Automata DLC have arrived in Stellar Blade's Patch 1.009, but unfortunately, they've also brought some significant problems. Developers Shift Up are working to address these issues with a hotfix.

Stellar Blade Patch 1.009 Issues

Game-Breaking Bugs and the Upcoming Hotfix

Players have encountered game-breaking bugs preventing quest progression and causing crashes. Specifically, a softlock is occurring during a main quest in an earlier dungeon, and the Photo Mode's selfie camera is triggering crashes for some. Additionally, certain cosmetic items aren't rendering correctly.

Shift Up advises against forcing quest progression until the hotfix arrives, as attempting to circumvent the issue could lead to a permanent softlock.

NieR: Automata Collaboration and Enhanced Photo Mode

Stellar Blade NieR: Automata Collaboration

The NieR: Automata collaboration is a significant addition to the update. Eleven exclusive items are available by interacting with Emil, the NieR character who's set up shop in the Stellar Blade world. This collaboration, according to the PlayStation Blog, reflects the mutual respect and creative synergy between directors Kim Hyung Tae and Yoko Taro.

The much-requested Photo Mode finally makes its debut, letting players capture stunning images of Eve and her companions. New photo challenges further enhance this feature. To complement Photo Mode, four new outfits for Eve and a new accessory (unlocked after completing a specific ending) affecting Tachy Mode have been added. Players can also now choose to remove Eve's ponytail. Other improvements include lip-sync support for six additional languages, improved projectile auto-aim and bullet magnet functions for the instant death skill, and several smaller bug fixes.
