Zynga, the publisher of Star Wars Hunters, has announced the game's complete shutdown just nine months after its release. Plans for a PC version on Steam have also been canceled.
The free-to-play team-based arena game, developed by NaturalMotion, launched on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android in June 2024. IGN's Star Wars: Hunters review scored it 7/10, stating: "Star Wars: Hunters delivers lighthearted PvP fun—like a party at the Death Star. Entertaining in short bursts, but not somewhere you'll want to stay long-term."
This assessment proved accurate, as Zynga confirmed that the final content update for Star Wars: Hunters will arrive on April 15, with servers staying online until October 1, 2025.

"We understand this news may be disappointing," Zynga stated. "This decision was not made lightly. We appreciate your passion and dedication to the game and will provide updates throughout the transition."
Here’s the shutdown timeline:
- March 25: Season 5 extended by three weeks, with reruns of events and shop bundles.
- April 15: Final content update releases (including new Support Hunter, Tuya), in-game purchases disabled.
- October 1: Servers permanently shut down.
The planned Steam version, previously announced for early access this year, has been scrapped—its store page now carries a "no longer available" notice.
Zynga, owned by Take-Two, is best known for mobile hits like FarmVille and Words with Friends. Star Wars: Hunters marked its first foray into console publishing—and was set to be its PC debut.
More Star Wars games are in development, including Respawn's next Jedi title and Bit Reactor’s tactical game set for reveal at Star Wars Celebration 2025.
