Star Wars: Hunters is set to shut down before even reaching its first anniversary, yet it will still get to celebrate that milestone before the final curtain call. But the question remains: is it worth celebrating the anniversary of a game that's on its way out?
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The servers for Star Wars: Hunters are scheduled to go offline on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game's journey after just nine months since its launch. Players have a few extra weeks to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is rolling out one final content update on April 15th. This update will introduce a new Support Hunter, Tuya, available for free. On the same day, in-game purchases will be disabled.
Ranked Mode will continue to be available until the servers shut down, and events from the season will be rerun. Players with unspent Crystals should use them up, as there will be no refunds offered.
It Isn’t Shocking
While it's unfortunate, the shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters might not come as a surprise to many. The game faced numerous challenges from the start. Initially announced in 2020, it experienced multiple delays and only conducted beta tests in the SEA and ANZAC regions.A delayed launch, the absence of major console support, and a lukewarm reception from the community all contributed to the game's eventual shutdown. Even the design choices left much to be desired. With a universe as rich as Star Wars, the decision to focus on generic original characters rather than the iconic legends of the galaxy seems like a missed opportunity.
For those who uninstalled the game but wish to experience it one last time, it remains available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown date.
