- Star Wars: Hunters will be shutting down less than a year after launch
- The servers will officially close in October this year
- A final game update is scheduled for release in April
Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga's debut venture into the franchise, is closing its doors just over a year after its iOS and Android release. Originally launched in June 2024, the game quickly gained attention with its unique blend of game show visuals and innovative twists on classic Star Wars characters.
The developers recently confirmed Star Wars: Hunters will cease operations on October 1st, with one last major update arriving on April 15th. Players can already request refunds for unused in-game currency, and some seasonal content will return as Season 3 gets extended.
Good news for fans awaiting the final character - Tuya will still become available in multiplayer mode. This new Hunter will debut in the April update and be freely accessible to all players immediately.

End of the Road
This announcement surprised many, as there were few signs Star Wars: Hunters was struggling. Given Zynga's strong position in the industry, the shutdown suggests deeper issues beyond simple performance metrics.
From my perspective, the hero shooter market may have become too crowded, failing to attract sufficient players. Additionally, Star Wars' core audience - historically older fans - might not have been the ideal demographic for this type of fast-paced mobile multiplayer experience.
