Many crucial decisions in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl significantly impact your gameplay. The mission preceding "Just Like the Good Old Days" varies depending on your choice in "Wishful Thinking."
"Just Like the Good Old Days" begins after completing either "To the Last Drop of Blood" or "Law and Order," both culminating in an escape from the SIRCAA.
Talk to Professor Lodochka at Wild Island
First, head to the mission marker on Wild Island to find Professor Lodochka at Quite's Camp. Upon arrival, a higher priority objective emerges: eliminating mercenaries in the area. These enemies are clearly marked, eliminating the need for searching.
Equip yourself well; these won't be the only enemies encountered. Eliminate all marked mercenaries to proceed to Lodochka's location. An optional objective, "Activate the Ventilation System," will then become available.
Activate the Ventilation System
To complete this optional objective, consult your map. Locate the marked fuse and retrieve it. Your map will then highlight the engineering rooms to the north. Be prepared for an invisible enemy within.
Enter the shelter, navigate the passageways to the Engine Room, and use the fuse to restore power to the Ventilation System. This will facilitate mission progression. While not providing unique rewards, completing this objective simplifies the main mission.
Find the Source of the Signal
Consider acquiring better weapons before proceeding, as the challenge increases. Head to the marked cave entrance near the water. Navigate the caverns westward, descending and traversing various obstacles. Utilize a broken pipe to reach higher cave levels.
Locate the large cone-shaped spire at the marked area. The Emitter is found at the marked point beside it. Expect another invisible enemy on your return journey. Finally, return to Lodochka to complete the mission, unlocking "Hornet's Nest" as the next main mission.
