Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed to Decider that he hasn't yet recorded any lines, and that various aspects of the film are still "being figured out." This news comes as little surprise, given the five-year gap between the first and second films.
"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about the commencement of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things are being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his character is poised to become a significant antagonist in the third. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: Jerome portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges at the film's conclusion not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.
This alternate Miles's journey differs drastically from the main protagonist's. The radioactive spider that bit the original Miles instead bites this version in his reality, leading to a vastly different outcome. With his universe's Peter Parker deceased, New York falls under the control of supervillains, and Miles G. Morales becomes one of them.
The narrative threads connecting this storyline with the main Miles's journey as Spider-Man will likely be explored in Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans should prepare for a considerable wait, with Deadline suggesting a release date no earlier than 2026, or potentially as late as 2028 if the previous release schedule is maintained.
