The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we mean Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has finally announced the much-anticipated return for Season 27, and it looks like our favorite Colorado crew is dealing with the state of things in their own inimitable, barely coping style.
The beloved animated series cleverly debuted a new trailer for the upcoming season, initially psyching the audience into thinking it was a sneak peek at a new drama. The trailer's intense editing and ominous music set the stage perfectly... until Stan’s dad, Randy, and his sister, Shelley, appear on-screen. Randy, sitting with Shelley on her bed under a Wicked movie poster, asks her if she's been taking drugs. "Because I think it could really help you," he quips, injecting the trademark South Park humor right back into the mix.
South Park Season 27 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025. Following the gag, the trailer shifts back to intense action, teasing several big and topical moments from the season. Expect to see major plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being pulled down, a P. Diddy appearance, and, as longtime fans might anticipate, some kind of war with Canada — a nod to the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.
The teaser also confirms that the new season will premiere on Comedy Central, over two years after the conclusion of Season 26. Since then, the series has aired three specials: 2023’s South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024’s South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, has been a staple on Comedy Central since its near-instant acclaim debut in 1997.
