The previous generation, the Sony XM4, was already an exceptional headphone, but the XM5 introduces crucial improvements in noise cancellation and comfort. It features a second processor and twice the number of microphones dedicated to eliminating ambient noise. The redesigned earcups fit more snugly, creating a better seal for improved passive noise isolation. The noise cancellation in the XM5 surpasses that of the XM4 and nearly all other headphones in its price range.
The Sony WH-1000XM5 also boasts a sleeker redesign with an updated headband adjustment style.
